Langley Primary School’s aim is to educate students on their role and responsibilities as a digital citizen, including awareness of dangers and managing their online identities (digital footprint). We are currently implementing the eSmart Schools framework within our school. An eSmart school is a school where the smart, safe and responsible use of information and communications technology is a cultural norm. Students, teachers and the wider school community are equipped to embrace the best these technologies can offer, while being savvy about the pitfalls. For more information, please visit www.esmart.org.au.
We recommend the following ‘cybersafe’ websites to students and families:
The Office of the Children’s eSafety Commissioner protects Australian children when they experience cyberbullying by administering a complaints scheme and deals with complaints about prohibited online content. To find out more, get help with cyberbullying or report content that may be illegal or offensive, please visit www.esafety.gov.au.
ThinkUKnow is a free, evidence-based cyber safety program that provides accessible cyber safety education to parents, carers and teachers through schools and organisations across Australia. For more information, please visit http://www.thinkuknow.org.au
