Transition to School

Successful school transitions prioritises ongoing communication and relationships with children and families.

Whether you have a Transition Learning and Development Statement (TLDS) or not we can develop strategies in tandem with your child to ensure a smooth transition to our school.

School is a stimulating environment for learning and discovery, allowing for movement, investigation and discusssion. Parents can support their children's transition to school by showing interest in their school life, their reading, the work they bring home and by visiting to the school either at drop off/pickup or by attending school functions.

More info can be found here: Transition to school resources for families

Langley PS supports students with differentiated and individualised programs tailored to meet the needs of your child. A key benefit of being a smaller school is our ability to individually cater to students, including those who may be overwhelmed by bigger classrooms.

School Readiness Activities as part of the Foundation Orientation Program Dates (above) will help prepare students for school by showing them how to

  • line up for class
  • interact positively with peers
  • make friends through conversation and play
  • organise and pack in their school bag etc
